Abstract

The concept of "practice makes perfect" is a central theme in this article. Simulation, as a didactic strategy, facilitates the bridging of the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world professional situations. This study focuses on the formal implementation and evaluation of an innovative educational approach within the Faculty of Education at the Universidad de Chile, emphasizing the utilization of simulation. The primary objective of this research is to demonstrate the effectiveness of simulation as a methodological strategy integrated into various courses within the curriculum of the Faculty of Education at the Universidad de Chile. To achieve this goal, each course instructor selects relevant thematic content previously covered in the classroom and collaborates with professional actors to design scenarios, often referred to as profiles. These scenarios are meticulously crafted to closely replicate real educational settings, such as classrooms or learning centers. The ultimate aim is to provide students with the opportunity to confront these situations and apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in their courses. The results indicate that simulation prompts students to assume the role of an educator, thereby fostering the development of social, personal, and professional competencies and skills. This study's conclusion asserts that simulation is indeed an effective methodological strategy in the realm of teacher development at the college level. Furthermore, it is considered an innovative educational experience in its own right.
